Description
The OM-2628 IC probe featuresthe integrated circuit transducerAD592CN. This IC solid state sensor is a twoterminal monolithic integratedcircuit temperature transducerthat provides an output currentproportional to absolutetemperature. For a wide rangeof supply voltages the transduceracts as a high impedancetemperature dependent currentsource of 1 µA/K. Improved design and laser wafer trimming of theIC’s thin film resistors allows the AD592CN solid state sensor to achieve absoluteaccuracy levels and nonlinearityerrors previously unattainable ata comparable price.
The OM-2628 probe canbe employed in applicationsbetween -25 and 105°C(-13 to 221°F) where conventionaltemperature sensors (i.e.,thermistor, RTD, thermocouple,diode) are currently being used.Expensive linearization circuitry,precision voltage references,bridge components, resistancemeasuring circuitry and coldjunction compensation are notrequired with the OM-2628 probe.
The OM-2628 solid state sensor is particularly usefulin remote sensing applications,the AD592CN is immune tovoltage drops and voltage noiseover long lines due to its highimpedance current output.
